Test descriptions
© Paul Cooijmans
These are rough intuitive descriptions of the outer appearance of the tests. Do realize it cannot be seen on the outside what a test measures. For more exact, objective information, see the statistical reports on the tests.
Unless otherwise indicated, the tests are unsupervised, untimed, individual, non-multiple-choice, designed by Paul Cooijmans and allow reference works and calculator.

The Sargasso Sea is an area of the Atlantic Ocean in the centre of the clockwise-rotating Gulf Stream, strewn with free-floating brown seaweed of the genus Sargassum. In the past, sailors believed that any wrecked or abandoned ship would eventually be carried to the heart of the Sargasso Sea by the currents of the Gulf Stream. There, it was thought, lay a huge, slowly rotating graveyard of shipwrecks, clustered together, so that one could climb from one to another. No one who attempted this ever lived to tell however, for it was impossible to approach the site without getting one's own ship entangled in the sea of wrecks, after which slow starvation was inevitable.
The Sargasso Test is the Sargasso Sea of test problems; it contains items that have been removed from my other tests in the course of twelve years for various reasons. They were too easy, too hard, "ambiguous", never solved, too knowledge-based, too math-biased, or simply weird. Experience has shown though that such "bad" items are often the best for detecting intelligence at the very highest level. So they get a second chance, to make up for their premature removal. In the Sargasso Test they lay clustered together, waiting to be solved by you. Be careful though; no one who attempted this has lived to tell yet, for it seems impossible to approach the test without getting one's head entangled in this sea of wrecks, after which slow starvation is inevitable.

This test is to identify the most intelligent individual ever in the universe. Expressed on a scale normed on the universe population of an estimated 1022 to 1024 individuals, Isis level is around IQ 240 (SD=15), with a rareness of about 1 in 1022 to 1 in 1024.

This test aims to measure the cognitive abilities at which females are known to outscore males. The choice of item types used is based on information from Arthur Jensen's 1998 book The g factor, chapter 13, "Sex differences in g". The test may be taken by both males and females and requires a good knowledge of the English language.
The FIT (Female Intelligence Test) should be taken in one supervised session and timed by the supervisor. There is no time limit, but you lose a point for every minute used while you gain a point with every correct answer. It is not allowed to use reference aids, calculators or computers or to consult others.
To take the test you will have to travel to my house; contact me for an appointment.
Before taking the test, register with this form if you have not already done so.
Pay the fee as explained here.

The LCAT is a test of the traditional kind:
- Taken under supervision
- Time limit (only for practical reasons, one gets ample time: 2 hours)
- No reference aids
- No calculator
- No scrap paper
- Average difficulty (not a high-range test, but estimated to go from IQ 90 to 150)
- Suitable for group administration
The test is computer-based (HTML) and scored automatically (JavaScript), but can also be used in pen-and-paper form, which may in many situations be more practical. It has 25 numerical and 25 spatial items. The current norms are only preliminary, as very few have taken the LCAT.
Below is a list of supervisors one may contact to take this test.
To me one will pay the usual fee, and one has to register with this form if one has not already done so.

| Kennelijk benodigd kennisniveau | Hoog |

| Nature of the problem | Logical and very extremely hard; find a path through a four-dimensional labyrinth of agony while being interrogated by a hungry Minotaur who is a fan of multiple-choice. When entering the labyrinth you are given a bag with 222 marbles. After a truthful answer the Minotaur demands you feed him 1 marble; if you choose to lie - who wouldn't, on Crete - you must feed the monster as many marbles as there were answering alternatives to that question. If you run out of marbles, no matter where, the Minotaur drags you to his dungeon of eternal pain, where the torture never stops. |
